End of the journey
Posted Friday, April 19, 2013 // 12:33 AM
Hey guys, I won't be continuing this site anymore because of the lack of response. Feel free to visit my other blog for my regular updates. Or if you are interested in solely my fashion journey, do follow me on Instagram! I update my ootds on there pretty often.

Lastly I want to thank you readers for the support. It's been pretty hectic trying to juggle my life with all these writings to be done, that I realized I can hardly spare time to multitask anymore. It's been great though, but it must end.

Once again, thank you guys so much.

sales alert - asos
Posted Thursday, April 11, 2013 // 3:11 AM

ASOS mid-season sales is back! This time with even funkier additions at the best prices you could ever find.

Tip for shopping at ASOS:

  1. Always filter the price
    • I always make my range from S$0 - S$25
  2. Also filter the size
    • You really don't want to have something all the way from the UK to come and not fit you and then you have to return it and pay a even larger sum than the amount you already paid before.
    • They have a decent size guide and their size are always true to size, so trust them.
  3. After you reached the price limit you have set for yourself and you're still browsing, STOP. You would just want to kill yourself with that even more gorgeous prints with price tags that blows your bank account.
HAVE FUN!

White tank  - Malaysia. Printed jeans - ASOS, $26. Nude sandal heels - Payless, $19.90. Clutch - Gift.
Green tee - ASOS, $12. Black flats - H&M, $17.90.
I have this habit of wearing my jean, or long pants in general, for a total of about 10 times before it hits the washing machine. Which therefore explain the repertory appearance of my new and possibly favourite jeans. They are so pretty and rad, I look instantly chic slipping them on. I can dress up and dress down, well, not exactly down cause I still look "up" but you know, I still look really presentable. I got these from River Island, ASOS during the sale because I really wanted to try the printed jeans trend and it was only $26. A usual pair of good and comfortable jeans is already near to $50 and half of them aren't even printed. Having it for $26 is a steal.

Anyway, I dressed it for my cousin's 21st birthday with my white chiffon tank and new pair of sandal heels. Honestly, the heels hurt but it was so much more comfortable than my usual 4 inches. Maybe because of the chunky heel, I love it. I survived a buffet in those heels, I've got to give it some credit for being amazing.

The next day I went out for a post-birthday lunch for my mum and I decided to ditch shorts so that I look cute and good. So I just put on a green tee shirt I got from ASOS a few years ago cause I really just can't go wrong with a single + complicated colour combination.

I bought myself a pair of black flats a few weeks ago because I don't have a pair of versatile flats anymore. H&M is one place I will recommend for buying flats because they carry no only a ton of colours but also flats of different material. I had a hard time debating over suede flats or synthetic leather ones after I decided on the colour. But that's what makes shopping fun, I suppose, fretting over what fits the budget. The flats are also very soft, may I add, so it doesn't leave my feet covered with blister. Though it often slip off due to the odd cutting and well, basically it doesn't hold in because it lack the hard support.

Colourful romper - Bangkok. Tribal Necklace - Jipaban, $5.
I am currently having a lot of time in my hands. But I still felt lazy with the outfit I chose to wear for a simple day out. I have this colourful romper for the longest time. It is honestly the best and the biggest reason why I love rompers. It was on the rack at Chatuchak a few years back when I was visiting the great land of smiles, Bangkok. I initially thought it was a dress and was simply drawn into it by the colours so I bought it without second thought. Now thinking back, I could not have been more rash about my decisions. But it is all worthwhile because despite the fact that I have worn this romper to DEATH (I went on multiple trips with this in my suitcase), it is still extremely comfortable and appropriate to head about anywhere in Singapore. It is just a no brainer to me if the weather is hot and I am too lazy to piece a whole outfit together with 192488932 different elements. I must have worn this at least 10 times but it still looks as good as new. Rompers are simple and easy and probably even more foolproof than LBDs, well at least to me.

The necklace was from the Black Friday sales on Jipaban back in 2012. I never found anything to go with it because even though I initially bought it to pair with my simple tee and jeans, I never really even wore such an ensemble for some time. :/ I'm just not a tee and jeans girl, I suppose. But voila! The cyan aztec necklace actually go with the multi-colour romper. Things eventually fall to pieces (pun intended).

Stripe top - Forever 21, $17.
I spent last Monday shopping at Orchard road, and the stripe crop top caught my eye as I was heading up to the second floor at the Somerset branch. It came in white and hot pink too but I grabbed the navy one since blue complements my skin tone more. I can't actually recall my intention of getting it but I suppose it was my instinct to get something very my retro-inspired. But anyway, my body does look great in the photo doesn't it?

I can't complain about this year's Oscar red carpet because it is just a constant flow of eye candies. Countless frocks of Valentino, Oscar de la Renta and Dior Couture. It's the glitz and glamour that kept it going for 85 years. Now to the dresses that contributed to world's most glamourous event.

LOOK FOR LESS literally
Helen Hunt actually showed up in an H&M gown for the most incredible event of Hollywood. Though she did crank up the glamour with the amount of bling on her. She looks ravishing, totally breath-taking. Well, there is always one person stealing the show by wearing an alternative brand. I am just glad this year the honour goes to the beautiful Helen Hunt.

CLASSIC RED VALENTINO
And of course there is red. The red carpet is just never complete without someone in the brightest red frock sashaying down the fashion cam (Think JLaw's red dress back in 2011's Oscar red carpet). This year, Valentino stole the red on the carpet as both Sally Field and Jennifer Aniston showed up in the same hue by the same designer.

Would really like Jen's hair to be more polished to match the sleekness of the frock, but whatever.

And is it just me or is Sally Field's feet a little too off in the picture? Well, if that is her feet, she should have gone with another shade for her footwear.

BLACK & WHITE
Don't Samantha Barks and Queen Latifah look like they are in the same dress, only different colour? They are not, by the way, just to clear the air. Samantha Barks is in Valentino while the Queen has her gown by Badgley Mischka, and also Queen Latifah's gown have a couple embellishment on the straps...

Anyway, though I love their gown and would totally get them, they seen a little Golden Globles than Academy Awards to me. Love these looks but as compared to the carpet full of intricate gowns, they appear a tad underdressed.

INTRICATE

Both Amanda Seyfried and Catherine Zeta Jones wore their designers proud with their frocks showing off the designers' signature style of beautiful details on the flawless gown. Amanda Seyfried wore Alexander McQueen while Catherine Zeta Jones is in Zuhair Murad. They both styled themselves with the usual class that you witness on the carpet so though they are safe, these looks prove mediocre. I do love Amanda's hair and whoever glowed up Catherine Zeta Jones did a stellar job.

While Helen Hunt appear on the carpet with an "alternative" gown (in terms of price), Halle Berry showed up with a different kind of "alternative" gown. Former Bond girl apparently told Donatella Versace to just "make her look like a Bond girl" and she came up with just that. But I am pretty sure that whatever Halle Berry don on, she is sure to look hot, hot, hot.

Zoe Saldana showed up in the most incredible Alexis Mabille Couture only to spoil the look with the pair of shoes she had on. The dress is insanely beautiful. I believe if she is on any best dressed list by the Fashion Police, she can only thank the designer of the gown to put her on it.

BEST DRESSED
If Jessica Chastain isn't one of the loveliest woman you have even seen, I don't know what things you have been seeing. Her Armani Prive gown matches her skin in such a way that makes her glow in the royalty way. She looks like the most demure princess from some really posh country. And can I just saw how flawless that hair and makeup is? Gosh, she looks amazing on the carpet.

Jennifer Lawrence and Charlize Theron both had on Dior Haute Couture for the prestigious ceremony and both rocked Dior so well. Jennifer Lawrence's dress is crazy (and maybe that's why she fell as she got up to receive her Best Actress award) but I have to say, her choice for the gown of the day paid off. People would talk about this for the next week, I assume.

Charlize Theron just look like the hottest mama on the planet. With her new sleek haircut, she looks phenomenal in this simple gown. Perhaps Anne Hathaway should take a leaf out from Theron's book huh.

My favourite look of the day had to be Amy Adams. The Oscar de la Renta stole my heart with the furry bottom that is light enough to make her look effortless. Her hair and makeup is flawless and so are the accessories she had on to bring out the her beauty. If she don't look incredibly amazing to you, it's time for an eye check up darling.

Girl tunic - Bangkok. Trainers - ASOS, $13.20. Tribal tote - Cotton On,  $2.
I was feeling rather lazy this day, having my exams just over. I saw my leggings on the rack (I leave my clothes that I've only worn for a couple hours to rewear them another day), and decided to reinvent another lazy outfit. I always go to leggings for comfort, because they are practically made for that sole purpose. I wore them to exams because when you are trying to rack your brains for the right answer, you really wouldn't want to be conscious about how short your skirt is and how cold your feet is in the air-conditioned room.

Anyway, I had to wear something casual for a home visit, so I just slipped on this tunic that my sister got for me from Bangkok. I asked her to get me something that is long enough to wear with leggings and shorts, but she got this that was a little too long and it was even sufficient of a length to be a dress if I was desperate. Hence a no brainer if I am too beat to dress up.

I got the shoes from the shoes sales earlier on on ASOS. They were really cheap and I needed a pair of sneakers to share the footload with my Converse. So, after looking at the price, I had them shipped to me in a single cart. (I rarely do so, I always have my cart full) They turned out just like the images on the site and fit me great. I decided to wear them since the rest of my outfit isn't exactly new anymore. I mean, it is still the CNY period, I should try to have something new...

I got my tote bag from Cotton On for only $2. You know how Cotton On is always doing good so they have things like nail polish and accessories going at dirt prices that apparently can help impoverished countries with their needs? This was one of it and it was for the people of Mannya and Buabo in Uganda. Somewhere in East Africa. Initially I picked them from the rack because the design was really good, then I saw the price and all, I dumped my money forward.

Anyway, this is what I wear when I am lazy. :P
